My Specialties
I particularly enjoy working with issues related to anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, and spirituality.

If you are recovering from difficult or harmful relationships, want to unlearn old ways of thinking, and want to reestablish a sense of self-worth - we might be a great fit.

What is Teletherapy Like with Dr. Berto?
Cultivating a space where you feel heard and cherished is one of my primary goals.
I believe the foundation of any good therapy is the relationship between the client and the clinician. I believe that nothing is "unspeakable" in the therapy room; rather, we just need to find healthy ways to talk about, or hold space for, the hard things.

Healing is usually a blend of acceptance, and change.
My approach is tailored to each individual or couple, but I most heavily draw from theories that emphasize both mindfulness and values-driven change. I tend to strike a balance between directive and non-directive strategies (depending on your need).

You have a say in your approach to treatment.
To evaluate progress, I typically use a blend of standardized measures, your own self-report, and clinical judgment. My treatment planning is a collaborative process and you have a voice in how you wish to utilize your time in therapy. Others have described my therapeutic style as gentle, insightful, and warm.

The healing process does take time, but you can work towards achieving your treatment goals in a targeted, focused manner.
A good goal for therapy is to eventually discharge from therapeutic services! :) I aim to equip my clients with skills, resources, and a strengthened sense of self so they eventually feel empowered to navigate life without consistent or weekly sessions. When therapy goals have been met, we collaborate on how to "titrate out" of treatment.

Attention is given to establishing a therapeutic space - even over the internet.
I am happy to give tips and suggestions on how to make your sessions feel a bit more comfortable and relaxing. I've had great success in establishing strong working relationships even through a computer screen. Teletherapy is shown to be just as effective as traditional settings, in most cases.
